Can we sue (if yes, who) the government for mishandling social security? As reported by the media, it will run out of money in 2037. Our children may not get any benefits (after contributing to the system) when they retire if the retirement age increases 1 year every year.

Unfortunately, no. The federal government enjoys almost absolute immunity from suit. There are a few exceptions where you can sue certain federal officials, but only if they’ve committed a recognized crime.

Recently San Francisco shut down cell phone coverage for the stated purposes of preventing crime.

British Prime Minister has stated that he wants the ability to shut down twitter to prevent further riots.

No. Govt should have no control of services run by private companies. Giving the govt a kill switch is giving permission for the govt to be a dictatorship.

It’s recently been revealed that the U.S. government contracted HBGary Federal for the development of software which could create multiple fake social media profiles to manipulate and sway public opinion on controversial issues by promoting propaganda.

Just behind F/B I think.

So I’m 17, and I love reading. I discovered fanfiction a few years ago, and have been reading it since. Two months ago, I came across some articles saying fanfiction was illegal. I understand the copyright issues, but after some research, and many questions here on yahoo answers, I am coming to ask for a final opinion. Is reading mature content illegal? What about Harry Potter "underage" content? I’m not talking children, I’m talking kids my age, 16 or 17 years old.

Now for the question about social media. I have a friend on facebook that writes in their statuses "getting high" or "smoking and watching p$3n.". Now, to my knowledge, both of these things are illegal in my state. Is there any monitoring by the government or websites in general to help kids with these issues? I mean the person is younger than me and clearly needs help. :/

Oh yes, and I researched and reading sexual content is not illegal in my state, but watching it and illustrating it is. Also, to my knowledge it is protected under the first amendment.

All help is appreciated!
And I’ve been worrying about it so much because I have anxiety issues and I just need a final answer. Thank you so much for helping! (:

You have an interesting question. Reading "mature" content is not illegal. Knowingly providing pornography to someone under 18 is. So the minor watching porn is the "victim," not the suspect.

As for agencies watching social media, the short answer is "kinda." Law enforcement does use social media to catch child predators, etc., and larger agencies do interact with social media for this purpose. However, posting "I’m getting high" is not going to get anyone’s attention; in the grander scheme of things, the cops have bigger fish to fry.

The best thing for you to do, is to be a friend. You recognize that this person needs help, so be there to help. Keep in mind, if they don’t want it/think they don’t need it, you may not get far. I also hope you are getting help for your anxiety issues.

Depending on the news outlet, all of the above could be applicable at any given time.

It sounds like a very important project to me – but could I suggest you say where you are based? Every country has imported beers and the significance of such imports will vary according to the country. In the UK (probably the world’s greatest trading nation on a per person basis) imported beers are very common and welcomed – even though our own brewing industry is vibrant.

In many Arab countries imports of alcohol are illegal (although hey happen, of course) so the ramifications are different. And there are many shades of consequence between these extremes.

Incidentally, you mean "present", not "prevent" I suspect.

What are the regulations?

Nobody knows…
*Whisper* they just can *Whisper*

with the advent of facebook, twitter, and youtube, it has become much easier to express discontent with the regime the citizens live under

also, social media allows people to read about ideas floating around in the other parts of the world and encourages people to question the governments they live under especially if they have experienced injustice

Social media nowadays are use for different purposes whether marketing a products, condemn particular issues, building relationship with other people, and simply complaining about certain products or company. This field also catches the attention of the Government and even the Pope acknowledge the significant contribution of social media. Think about it how powerful social media can influence people which possibly can influence to change terrible governments.

Social security is going to go broke.

1 in 7 homeowners are in default on their mortgages.

1 in 20 Americans defaulted on their credit cards last quarter.

I feel like I’m reading press releases from Al-jazeera about economy. "AP–The economy only shed 400,000 jobs last month, an improvement from last month." What the heck kind of wording is that?

It’s like saying "The cancer didn’t move to your vital organs, it’s only in your liver, so that’s good"

they don’t even know how bad it is

How do can you join? Website? Why is it the most important? What changes will it bring? What changes in this civilization must be made? Changes in art, government, social ethics, education, media, etc.? Is the revolution non-violent?

In the U.S.(and this will spread) financial downsizing. People seem to be unconciously preparing for the comming depression.
